3 Ways to Be a Witness of Jesus Christ This Week

3 Ways to Be a Witness of Jesus Christ This Week

First, share your testimony!

What is a testimony? It is a spiritual witness given by the Holy Ghost. Sometimes we think the only way to share a testimony is the way we do it during fast and testimony meeting, like on Sunday at our church in Fresno. However, that is not the only way; there are many different types of ways, both in formal and casual settings. Bringing up the gospel and sharing your testimony with your family and friends may be a frightening experience for a number of reasons, but it doesn’t have to be! Elder Jeffrey R. Holland in the April 2001 general conference stated: “But perhaps even more important than speaking is listening. These people are not lifeless objects disguised as a baptismal statistic. They are children of God, brothers and sisters, and they need what we have. Be genuine. Reach out sincerely. Ask these family members and friends what matters most to them. What do they cherish, and what do they hold dear? And then listen. If the setting is right you might ask what their fears are, what they yearn for, or what they feel is missing in their lives. I promise you that something in what they say will always highlight a truth of the gospel about which you can bear testimony of.”

Second, live your life according to Christ’s example.

At times, living in a worldy world has us forget about the real reason we are on this Earth. Going through the week may just feel fast-paced, and when you finally have time to catch your breath, it's the end of the week, you're attending church in Fresno—and it's time to do it all over again. God wants us to be intentional with our time and intentional with the decisions we make. We were sent here uniquely made to take part in His heavenly plan—a plan that has a unique role for you to do on this Earth. How aware are you of this role you came to earth to fulfill? How often do you stop to ponder about it? As we reflect daily on these questions, we are more desirous to follow Christ's example in our lives.

Lastly, do what Jesus would do.

We know that to return back to our Father in Heaven, we need to follow Jesus Christ in this life. Doing that may not always be the easiest; however, it brings the most joy! The important key word in this life is to try. As long as we are trying to do what Jesus would do, we are following Him. The Lord loves effort! Effort can be seen in many different ways: a smile, a hello, including someone who is alone, loving someone who is difficult to love, giving food to the needy, visiting someone who has been on your mind, listening to a disgruntled coworker, being patient while driving, and the list goes on. If you are consistently looking for ways to do good, that is what Jesus did. And you can do it too, in your own unique way!
