Knowing our past and what our forebears went through can give us strength to face trials and challenges of our own. Find your past with free help from one of our volunteer genealogists!

How we can help

We get it: starting your family history can be overwhelming. Don't worry! You can discover your roots in no time if you have the right tools and the right help. Luckily, we can give you both! Here are ways we can help:

• Free access to dozens of the world's leading family history databases, including billions of family history records, newspaper articles, census records, and more (these subscriptions are expensive on their own, but you can access them free in our center!)
• Free software to start filling in your very own family tree
• Expert guidance on how to get started researching, or, if you're more experienced, how to break through some of the blocks in your family line
• Experienced help finding military draft records, newspaper articles, stories, photos, and other amazing things you didn't know were out there about your ancestors (this is one of our favorite parts: you won't believe how your ancestors will start coming to life as you learn about them!)
• Connections to specialists in unique areas of family research, like Latino ancestry or immigration records
• Lots of love and help to get through the learning curve!

About us

The Fresno Stake Family Search Center has been on Cedar Ave for decades! Today, our office has 10 computer workstations, a printer, high-speed internet, and digital and physical access to the world's very best resources for family research. Our staff are all volunteers and are each experienced genealogists who love researching their family lines. Combined, we've found thousands of our own family names going back many, many generations! We each take turns staffing the center and offering our assistance to whoever comes in. Each of us lives right here in Fresno. We're a friendly bunch and hope you'll make an appointment soon!

How is this free?

Our center is funded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and everything is offered free as a service to our church members and the surrounding Fresno community. And when we say free, we mean it! Our time, our help sessions, our subscriptions, our resources—everything is gift of time and love to our friends and neighbors in Fresno. We're passionate about family history and want to help people discover their own. Please use us!
